About Me

Paul Betito

Paul Betito, MSW RSW

I graduated with distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in psychology in 2014 and I am a 2018 graduate of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto.

I specialize in solution- and emotion-focused therapies, cognitive and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy (MBT), Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis and the therapeutic alliance, which is the working relationship I build with clients. My psychoanalytic specialties, which are traditionally practiced and espoused by physicians, are rather uncommon in social work; however, I am an expert in the subject matter and clients may find this very helpful.

I also have expertise in clinical phenomenology, consciousness (including its psychological and philosophical extensions), psychosis and schizoprenia-spectrum disorders, compassionate breathing and body scanning, somatic integration and somatization, conversion and related disorders such as hypochondriacal anxiety.

I have written four short books you can check out here.

In my spare time I practice boxing, Krav Maga and Kali de Leon. I am also an intrepid long-distance walker, a runner and a learned mindfulness practitioner. You can check out my personal webpage here (active and prospective clients, however, should be gently informed that it is not clinically advisable to connect with me outside of regular therapy sessions, and that my other pursuits may not be relevant to their needs).
